Our Kitchen and Food Philosophy

We are passionate about serving excellent food and the kitchen is the heart of our home.  Chris’ skills and experience mean that you can look forward to delicious meals prepared by a Chef who previously gained 3 AA rosettes in his own restaurant after working in the City of London.

But things are changing for 2021 - we are no longer able to use our large communal table where we have loved hosting our guest dinner parties in previous years.  This year you will be allocated your own table at a safe distance from other households.  We have adapted our food offer to make it easier for you too, starting with breakfast which will be served at your table.

Chris has developed a new "brasserie" style dinner menu for this season with prices starting at £20 per head for two courses.  We are accepting dinner bookings for Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights, and recommend that you book ahead as much as possible.  Other nights will be subject to demand.

Packed lunches are still being offered so that you can dine al fresco watching our wildlife, saving you from the hassle of having to plan ahead.  If there are 4 or more of you and you'd prefer something more substantial then we are happy to upgrade those to picnic lunches if requested; we can do anything from classic British picnics through to Middle Eastern meze.

Our food offer is ethical and sustainable - often home grown and usually home made. Chris is a keen organic gardener and works hard to ensure that our kitchen uses our own home-grown, home-made and locally sourced produce.  Ask for a tour of our garden - it contains a good range of fruit, vegetables and herbs which you will find in many of Chris’ dishes as they come into season. And what isn’t used that day is often preserved, pickled, jammed and chutney’d!

 

We can offer gluten-free, diabetic, vegetarian and vegan options. 

We do appreciate knowing any dietary requirements or preferences in advance.
