Our Kitchen and Food Philosophy

We are passionate about serving excellent food and the kitchen is the hub and heart of our home.  Chris’ skills and experience mean that you can look forward to delicious meals prepared by a Chef who previously gained 3 AA rosettes in his own restaurant.  Janice serves and helps to host our informal dinner parties, which for many are a highlight of their stay.

A keen organic gardener, Chris works hard to ensure that our kitchen uses home-grown, home-made and locally sourced produce for our broad food offer of breakfast, packed lunches and occasional dinners.  Ask for a tour of our garden - containing a range of fruit, vegetables and herbs, you’ll find these in many of Chris’ dishes as they come into season. And what isn’t used that day is often preserved, pickled, jammed and chutney’d!

Gluten-free, diabetic, vegetarian and vegan can all be catered for.

We do appreciate knowing any dietary requirements or preferences in advance.

Breakfast

Start your day by choosing from our buffet of cereals, seasonal fruits (salad and compotes), home-made yoghurt and fruit juices. Then choose between a traditional Scottish breakfast, boiled or scrambled eggs, smoked salmon or our special free range poached eggs, served with Chris’ home-made Hollandaise sauce and your choice from our breakfast list. Guest favourites include spinach, black pudding or organic smoked salmon.  Tea, coffee, toast and occasionally croissants make up this hearty meal.

Packed Lunches

If you fancy dining al fresco at lunchtime, we can provide you with a tasty and substantial picnic lunch whilst you take the time to stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mull and Iona. We recommend bringing your own lunch box so your picnic doesn’t get too squashed and are always happy to fill your water bottle, or a flask with hot water. Prices for packed lunches start at £ 7.50.

Evening Meals

We host regular evening meals and, although we do not take bookings, we are very happy for you to note your interest before you arrive. Our approach is democratic – we have a chat with guests at breakfast, see who wants to eat with us, and then agree a menu based on what’s local, fresh and available. A minimum of 5 guests is required to ensure a dinner service with meals priced from £25 to £40 per person, depending on menu.
