Our Kitchen and Food Philosophy
Chris is a keen organic gardener and works hard to ensure that our kitchen uses our own home-grown, home-made and locally sourced produce. Ask for a tour of our garden - it contains a good range of fruit, vegetables and herbs which you will find in many of Chris’ dishes as they come into season. His skills and experience mean that you can look forward to delicious meals prepared by a Chef who held 3 AA rosettes in his own restaurant after working in the City of London.
Don’t forget that we do appreciate knowing any dietary requirements or preferences in advance.
Breakfast is served each morning between 8am and 9am. You will never be asked to pre-order the night before - instead when you come down for breakfast, you will be able to choose what you fancy and we will cook it fresh for you. We offer a wide selection of traditional and modern (lighter) options with occasional special items (such as kippers). We make our own marmalade and jams, muesli and granola. We use organic coffee beans and proper breakfast tea. In other words, breakfast with us is a treat and you are very welcome to eat your way round the menu.
Our posh packed lunches are handy if you want to dine al fresco and can be requested at any point during your stay. If there are 4 or more of you and you'd prefer something more substantial then we are happy to upgrade those to picnic lunches if requested; once the menu has been agreed we can provide a price.
Supper platters are a tasty and healthy option availble on Monday, Thursday and Saturday nights. These include home-made soup and home-made bread, and a selection of meat, cheese, fish, vegetarian or vegan options all served with pickles and salads. We add a sweet treat such as a mini-crème brulee or a chocolate pot to round everything off. We do appreciate platters being pre-ordered as so many elements are home-made. Dinner happens when Chris feels like it!
All meals are provided on a BYOB basis as we do not have a licence to serve alcohol.
