Our Kitchen and Food Philosophy
Chris is a keen organic gardener and works hard to ensure that our kitchen uses our own home-grown, home-made and locally sourced produce. Ask for a tour of our garden - it contains a good range of fruit, vegetables and herbs which you will find in many of Chris’ dishes as they come into season. His skills and experience mean that you can look forward to delicious meals prepared by a Chef who held 3 AA rosettes in his own restaurant after working in the City of London.
Don’t forget that we do appreciate knowing any dietary requirements or preferences in advance.
Breakfast is served each morning between 8am and 9am. You will never be asked to pre-order the night before - instead when you come down for breakfast, you will be able to choose what you fancy and we will cook it fresh for you.
We offer a wide selection of traditional and modern (lighter) options with occasional special items (such as kippers). We make our own marmalade and jams, muesli and granola. We use organic coffee beans and proper breakfast tea. In other words, breakfast with us is a treat and you are very welcome to eat your way round the menu.
Our packed lunches are handy if you want to dine al fresco and can be requested at any point during your stay. If there are 4 or more of you and you'd prefer something more substantial then we are happy to upgrade those to picnic lunches if requested; once the menu has been agreed we can provide a price.
Dinner is now offered on an occasional basis as our local pub the Keel Row has been bought by members of the local community and has now re-opened. The Keel Row will be providing lunches and evening meals 6 days a week (Tuesday to Sunday) with the bar open for drinks every day. We are very pleased to support this local community business and will be substantially reducing our evening meal offer as a result. Details on how to make a reservation can be found on the Table Agent website - https://tableagent.com/highlands/keel-row/. As the Keel Row kitchen will be closed on a Monday, we are very happy to provide a meal for guests that night. We shall be in touch with those guests closer to time to confirm their requirements, with details of the menu and price.
If you have pre-booked dinner or supper with us on other evenings, we shall also get in touch before your stay to confirm arrangements. Chris still wishes to cook and we will provide information to guests on that service when we can. If you are unable to book at the Keel Row or simply want something lighter, then our Supper Platters remain an option for all guests. These include home-made soup and home-made bread, and a selection of meat, cheese, fish, vegetarian or vegan options all served with pickles and salads. We add a sweet treat such as a mini-crème brulee or a chocolate pot. Prices start at £12.50 per person.
We encourage everyone to pre-book both dinner and supper options as that helps us plan ahead. All meals are provided on a BYOB basis as we do not have a licence to serve alcohol.
