Guest Areas
Our guest lounge has comfortable chairs and a sofa. A bookcase contains local information and guide books, maps and history books to help you plan your days on the Ross of Mull and Iona. The TV, linked to the UK FreeSat service, completes the guest room although as one guest said "who comes to Mull to watch the TV". If the day is “gey dreich” (that is, very grey and wet) you’ll find plenty of board games to help you out.
For excellent views, our dining room is set in a lovely conservatory which looks west to the Sound of Iona (great for sunsets) and east to Ben More (great for sun-rises). Breakfast and evening meals are served here at a communal table which can expand to take our full complement of 9 guests. Some guests bring a picnic supper and we’ll happily provide crockery and cutlery if you want to sit for a while.
We are fortunate that there doesn’t seem to be too many midges in Fionnphort - it appears they don’t like our sea-salty breeze, although you might find a few more whizzing about in August and September on a calm night. That means you can wander in the garden and see what Chris has been up to – especially at the back where he grows a wide range of vegetables and soft-fruits. Or, perhaps just sit for a while on the decked area outside the dining room’s patio doors. It’s a great place to watch the sun go down over Iona, especially in the Summer.
